Beer Baby

Few of you know much about my life, I'm afraid, and for that I am very sorry. You are really missing out on some great stories! ;-) What I feel even sorrier about is that I don't know very much about the lives of my loved ones, either. It makes me feel sad to be so out of touch with the people who once knew me better than the gossiping old ladies in this tiny mountain village now do.

I do love the gossiping old ladies, though. My favorite joke (and I've used this on people for years now) is to casually mention that I am expecting. Yes, I am, I say. I'm expecting a boy and he will be named Asahiro. Of course, everyone believes me. And why wouldn't they? I'm sporting a belly that looks like I've just chugged six Asahi beers (cans and all) -- and therein lies the joke. But it's only funny to me. Wildly funny, I might add. Oops, I just did.

Perhaps the reason I laugh so much is because I'm over compensating for the laughter I never receive from telling these kinds of jokes.
