Belated Merry Christmas

Hello everybody!

On Christmas Eve, I spent about an hour penning a very nice post about my time thus far in Turkey. As soon as I hit the "Publish Post" button, I knew something was wrong. The screen went blank. I pressed "Back" but everything was gone. The entire city of Istanbul lost ADSL connection. Unfortunately, this is not an unusual occurance.

I tried to rewrite - on paper - my entry, and I hope to publish it here soon. In the meantime, best wishes for the New Year to you all!

After a 10+ hour overnight bus journey from Istanbul, I arrived in the small village of Selcuk (in south-western Turkey) on Christmas morning. I checked in to the pension and hitched a ride with a few other Americans to the last home of the Virgin Mary. We attended a 10:30 a.m. Christmas Mass there and it was really moving.

Next up was a walk around the ruins of the city of Ephesus (Efes), home of the Ephesians. I sat in the Great Theatre there, the same place where Paul avoided a near-riot (according to Acts 19), and listened to a group of Korean women sing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" in Korean!

That's all for now!
xoxo

This sounds like a very intriguing Christmas. Best wishes!
