Maybe I should have thought twice before drinking Pepsiccino at 10 p.m. on a school night. It's now 3 a.m. and I'm wondering if it's ok to call in sick to work but still go out with AYHM tomorrow night. And I'm wondering if I should even go out with AYHM. Cilek the Cat is now looking at me with an expression that says, "Turn out the lights and go to bed, b!tch. I've got a lot of furniture-clawing to do tomorrow!" Well, I'll take that as my cue...
Update!
I woke up this morning with the same red, stinging, tearing eyes that I had yesterday and also last week. The pharmacist had given me some eye drops but they only made my eyes sting more. Instead of going to work, I had my friend the vet call some nearby eye docs that are listed in my insurance guide. We found the "Veni, Vidi" (haha) eye hospital, where English is spoken, and they had a 1 p.m. slot for me. The doctor gave me a thorough eye exam, I learned that my astigmatism isn't bad enough to warrant special contacts, and I found out that my corneas are in very poor condition - thanks to abrasions caused by 16 years of contact-lens-wearing/abuse. The latter is the root of my current eye troubles but the doctor says they will be ok... as long as I follow a daily regimen of 6 drops of antibiotic, 4 drops of cortisone, at least 4 drops of Refresh Tears, and a drop of some scary eye cream. That's eyeBALL cream. Ew. Next week we'll see how they are doing. Pray for my corneas, please!
Oh, and yeah I went out with AYHM - and a very nice friend of his - and it was fun! I still can't believe I could spend so much time engaged in Turkish/sign-language conversation. AYHM's friend even asked me how many YEARS I've been here! Ha! I have a looooooong way to go, but I'm doing my best to learn quickly. I like that both AYHM and his friend are not only very patient with my Turkish but also eager to explain things to me that I don't understand. They are gentlemen, as well, never allowing me to pay (which breaks my heart because I'm sure my salary is at least double theirs), always opening doors and helping me with my coat, making sure I get in the door of my building ok, and not trying any funny stuff. Ah, if only the men my age were so well-behaved!
